International Day of Pink is an annual event dedicated to combating bullying, discrimination, homophobia, transphobia, and transmisogyny worldwide.
It was founded in 2007 in Nova Scotia, Canada, when two high school students, David Shepherd and Travis Price, witnessed a peer being bullied for wearing a pink shirt. In response, they bought 50 pink shirts and encouraged their classmates to wear them in solidarity. The movement quickly grew into a global initiative promoting inclusion, diversity, and acceptance, particularly for LGBTQ+ communities.
This April 8th, wear pink in any shade to show your support for safer, more inclusive environments. Send a clear message that intolerance and bullying has no place in society.
At Shieldmaiden Media we took the staff out for a special dinner to celebrate a birthday and pink was the attire colour of choice, with Laura wearing her pink high top converse and carrying her hot pink purse.
